Many retail Banks have a large deployment of Automatic Teller Machines (ATM’s) that have a V35 or X21/V11 interface, often connected via a subrate TDM network, which is often near or at the end of its life and ready for replacement.
The ATMs require encrypted resilient networks and have historically used Analogue / TDM or serial to provide this. Carrier Ethernet provides similar features but with lower cost points and allows for additional services to be provided such as video cameras to be installed in the ATMs
